MRE and NAAFE acknowledge that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the organizations is mutually beneficial. It will raise the profile and professionalism of both organizations.
The responsibilities under the MOU are identified below:
MRE:

Will acknowledge NAAFE on the front cover of the journal Marine Resource Economics with the statement “published by the MRE Foundation, Inc., in association with the North American Association of Fisheries Economists.” Please note that if IIFET also signs a similar MOU with MRE, its name will be listed along with the NAAFE name.

Will select five (5) Marine Resource Economics Associate Editors from the NAAFE membership. This affiliation will be identified on the inside front cover of Marine Resource Economics in the list of Associate Editors.

Will select three (3) Marine Resource Economics Advisory Board members from the NAAFE membership. This affiliation will be identified on the inside front cover of Marine Resource Economics in the list of the Advisory Board members. One of these three Marine Resource Economics Advisory Board members will be designated as the liaison between MRE and NAAFE.
NAAFE:

Will assist MRE in obtaining subscriptions as follows. Every biennium, immediately following the NAAFE Forum, the NAAFE Business Office will provide a database containing names, email and mailing addresses of NAAFE members to MRE. MRE may use this information to send mailings offering Marine Resource Economics subscriptions to NAAFE members. The NAAFE Business Office will assist by advising on and distributing mail announcements periodically through its electronic distribution lists, to both current and previous NAAFE members. A link will be provided from the NAAFE website to that of Marine Resource Economics to facilitate subscription.

NAAFE letterhead and website will acknowledge the association with MRE.
